- Bacteria-safe hot water with scald protection. We store your water hot enough to keep Legionella bacteria from growing, and a mixing valve keeps it at a safe temperature at the faucet.
- Automatic leak shutoff. If the heater leaks, the water shuts off for you, even when you're not home.
- Expansion tank. It absorbs the pressure from heated water, so your heater and pipes last longer.
- Safety drip pan. It catches drips before they reach your floor or ceiling.
- Backflow protection. It keeps water from siphoning out of your tank.

Do I need an expansion tank?
If your home's water passes through a check valve, a water pressure regulator or a backflow preventer, San Antonio code requires one. It's included in every package.
What temperature should my water heater be set to?
The CDC notes that 130°F to 140°F can kill germs like Legionella but raises the risk of burns, so it recommends a mixing valve at the tap above 120°F. Every package includes one.
Where should the relief valve line go?
To an approved drain or outdoors, never onto the floor or into the pan.
Why do water heaters wear out so fast in San Antonio?
Hard water. San Antonio Water System reports 15 to 20 grains per gallon, which builds up sediment and wears down the standard anode rod. Every package includes a long-life electric anode rod.
Can a handyman replace my water heater?
